For our members, Brandon Community Welcome is more than a program, it is A Place to Belong. Over the years, our social, recreational, and educational programs have built a community where members come to feel welcomed, at home, and understood as they travel through their mental health recovery journeys. Our varied programming schedule provides a wide range of classes, activities, and clubs at little to no cost, ensuring we are able to meet our members where they are at in their recovery. 

Your support of our 50/50 draw allows us to continue to support our members as they grow, making this a more accessible place for them to meet, socialize, and share in their common experiences in a safe and supportive community.

More than 40 years ago, with institutionalized care downsizing and the abilities of those with mental illness being seen with a new, more positive focus, there was a need within the community for A Place to Belong. Banding together, a group of patients and staff from Brandon Mental Health Centre initiated Brandon Community Welcome as a way to fill that need. 

With the need for a place to belong also comes a need for a sense of community. Often taken for granted by the general population, those living with mental illness often face marginalization and stigma for a variety of reasons that make that sense of community that much more difficult to find. Through a varied programming schedule with different group classes, activities, and clubs, our programs aim to provide that community through recreation, education and leisure activities with little to no cost.
