Variety, the Children's Charity of Manitoba's mission is to step in where government, healthcare and other funding ends, to provide direct assistance to children living with special needs and experiencing economic disadvantage. Variety recognizes that for children living with special needs support is essential, early intervention is critical and families we assist struggle to deal with the overwhelming cost of care. Variety works with organizations and individuals to provide and deliver life-saving, life-changing and life-enriching equipment, supplies and services to Manitoba Children.

Meet Ireland

Three-year-old Ireland is living with profound hearing loss and wears cochlear implants to access speech and sound. Ireland depends on additional equipment like batteries to ensure her cochlear implants function properly. Extra equipment such as batteries, aqua sleeves, and microphone clips are not covered. Ireland’s family, like many others, has experienced job loss due to COVID-19, and the cost of Ireland's batteries is too much for them at this time. With Variety's help, Ireland was able to get the urgently needed equipment so she can continue to reach her potential.
